ABOUT ECO CLUB


The club was installed in 2021 with the motto "March towards Green" and it is dedicated to spread awareness among the students regarding conservation and protection of the environment by organizing green events throughout the year.

Vision
  • • To nurture and teach the importance of environment to students.
Mission
  • • To protect and keep Jarugumalai, Namamalai, Nagaramalai and Kanjamalai hills green in Salem.
  • • To make the students actively involve and develop interest in environmental issues.
  • • To plant 5000 saplings in Salem every year.
Objectives
  • • To conserve the natural resources and natural environment.
  • • To create awareness on Eco friendly environment biodiversity.
  • • To motivate students to keep their surrounding green and clean.

    Saplings are planted on the mark of National festive days such as Independence Day, Republic Day, New year Day, Yoga Day, Abdul kalam birthday, Youth Empowerment day, Mahatma Gandhi birthday, Environmental day, Labour day, International Women’s Day, World population day,International Mountain day Our college go green club functions to create the campus & salem city with eco Friendly environment which created a positive changes in the environment, this club to save extent protect the natural environment for ever on the earth for the healthy possibility of life. Each student of our college in his / her 1 or 2 years duration they plant minimum 15 saplings. This activity paved the way for increase the ground water level of salem surroundings and also increase in rainfall was recorded in salem city.

Feedback and Program Report:-

    Dated: 14.11.2022, Monday, 11.30 am – 12.45 pm (Session 1) & 2.30 pm – 3.00 pm (session 2), Session – 1 for Inauguration part and display of herbal plants at our auditorium of St. Joseph College of Arts & Science for Women, Pagalpatty, Salem for the visit of all students and faculties of our college and the session – 2 for planting of saplings at our various of our college campus. Our department of commerce with Arts Club organized an Arts Exhibition. The program was well arranged and organised by our students, arts club and eco club members and coordinators. The program was approved by our management, the respected secretary sister, the principal sister and the vice principal sir.

    The arts club and eco club secretary, president are formally invited our secretary, principal and vice-principal and all the departments heads and faculty members and non teaching staff members from the college for this program.

    On the the program was started with master of ceremony & welcome address was done by the students K.Suba Sri & A.Kavya Sri of I-B.Com CA. The Prayer song was sung by our B.Com & B.Com CA Students and the Welcome Floor Flower and Lamp Decoration and hall decoration is done by our commerce hostel students namely Thirupura Sundari.

    The program was inaugurated with ribbon cutting and started with lighting lamp by our respected secretary sister, beloved principal sister, in absence of vice principal sir, and Sister Regina Mary, Hod of Mathematics, Arts and Eco Club Coordinators.

    The chief guest of the program, our respected Rev.Sister. Dr.A.Antony Maria Jansi, Secretary, gave the presidential address and the herbal plants are inaugurated by her along with the special guests of the program Sr.T.Reeta Mary, Principal and St. Joseph College of Arts & Science for Women, Pagalpatty, Salem.

    After the inauguration, all the plants are displayed. The displayed herbal plants are visited by our students and faculty members of our college. Totally 38 plants are displayed by the arts and eco club members.

    Finally the herbal garden program comes to an end with the planting of saplings by the Principal sister, along with her all the plant donors of our students planted the saplings.

    I personally thank to all my department students who are all directly and indirectly supported for this program. The program was successfully completed.
